The Paper Boat That Found the Sea
🔊 Listen to this story
Zara folded a small paper boat and set it gently into the rain-puddle stream running down her street. "Go find the sea," she whispered.
The little boat bobbed past a sleepy cat, under a fallen leaf bridge, and around a curious duckling who paddled alongside it for a while.
"Are you scared?" quacked the duckling. "The drain ahead looks very dark."
"A little," admitted the boat, "but Zara believed I could make it. So I believe it too."
Through the dark pipe and out into the wide, sunlit canal the little boat sailed — and there, at last, sparkling and endless, was the sea.
